We have years of experience of RnD for 3D knitting programs and knitting machines, as well as knitting design and training. So, we hope to give you the best service available within this industry.
From the Roots of Craftsmanship
Founded in 2018 in Sykkylven, Norway, our company produces 3D-knitted products using advanced knitting machines from Shima Seiki, Japan. The company is owned and developed by, among others, Amatec and stakeholders such as Ekornes and Flakk Group. In Sunnmøre, there is a long tradition of producing both clothing and furniture, with experience and knowledge of textiles and automation passed down through generations.
Our Commitment to Sustainable Textile Solutions
We have 3D knitting machines, a design system, and additional equipment for automatic yarn winding on cones, as well as equipment for steaming and more. We can produce items with varying knitting densities, from finer textiles with 4-gauge to coarser knits with 15-gauge, using both synthetic and natural fibers, including Norwegian wool. Our commitment to sustainable production has earned us support from Innovation Norway, Sparebanken Møre, and Siva through Nordveggen Business Garden.

The Norwegian catapult program organized by Siva (The Company for Industrial Growth) is a scheme with national centers that offer testing facilities, expertise, and support to companies that need help testing prototypes, visualization, and simulation for faster market introduction. 3D Knittings facilities and competence is part of KORTs services.
SHIMA SEIKI – Pioneering Technology in Knitting Innovation
SHIMA SEIKI is a Japanese manufacturer of advanced knitting machines, best known for its WHOLEGARMENT® technology, which knits complete, seamless garments. The company also offers design software and textile production systems, serving the global fashion and textile industry.
Amatec - machinsupplyer and automation specialist
A full-service supplier of machines and automation solutions for the sewing and textile industry, with its own dedicated automation department. Amatec holds agencies for various types of sewing, cutting, embroidery, and knitting machines, and offers technical service, training, and customized automated solutions for a wide range of industries.

Innovation center for Shima Seiki, to explore 3D-knitting in industries beyond the apperal industry
New of the year is an expanded collaboration with Japanese machine manufacturer Shima Seiki. 3D Knitting in Sykkylven will serve as its European innovation center for non-garment applications, covering everything beyond apparel. A workshop was held on November 19th and 20th, where ideas and insights were shared with participants. Looking ahead, we will continue to deliver new knowledge, machines and technologies to the industry.

Collaboration with Norwegian University of Science and Technology - NTNU and Oslo National Academy of the arts - KHIO
We initiated this project in collaboration with NTNU Ålesund and received funding from regional research fund to explore this emerging field. To add an artistic and design-driven perspective, we also invited KHIO to explore how 3D knitting can be further developed through experimentation, material investigation and design thinking. Together with Flokk, the project brings research, education and industry together, using the Capisco chair as a key case study.
